It’s that time of year again, the day when even the least romantic people on earth make a special effort to surprise the special someone in their life. Yup, Valentine’s Day creeps up on us all and if you are frantically searching for something to do without much planning required…keep reading.
The good news is you are on one of Thailand’s most beautiful islands. Phuket is home to 35 stunning beaches, some seriously amazing viewpoints and Five Star luxurious resorts to make any valentines a day to remember.
So here are some romantic recommendations from our team down at Thanyapura (We’re all routing for ya!) of where to go to surprise your valentine in Phuket:
- Dinner beside the sea
There are some beautiful sea-front restaurants just waiting to cook you and your partner up something delicious in this romantic setting (let’s hope its not raining huh!?). Picture the scene: You sitting opposite the woman you love as the cool evening breeze whisps through your hair and the sun sets just above the sea line.
You immerse yourself in delicious cuisine, Thai or Western, as the candlelight burns and you enjoy each-others company. Sound like a good date to you? The some great places to hear are the Paresa Resort @ Kamala beach (as shown below), Da Maurizio @ Patong Beach and Moms Tri Kitchen Royale @ Kata Noi Beach.
2. Longtail boat Cruise
Create your own excursion of love and start at shore in the afternoon then wind up at a private beach by night. As you drift among the calm waves of the sea, this romantic journey will only result in your partner being super flattered you’ve gone through this much effort to show them you care. Here’s a map view of Phukets most quiet beaches. Alternatively, you can try and grab a beach of your own with these private spots linked to some stunning hotels.
3. Island hopping/snorkeling/diving
Island hop your way through Valentines day and explore the exquisite sea-life Phuket has to offer with the one you love. With varied packages available, your best bet is to go to a tour agency and see what offers the have. Just remember to listen out for where she said she wanted to visit during your stay in Phuket (you weren’t listening were you? Doh!)
Snorkeling in Phi Phi Island
(PS. wanna head somewhere quieter but equally as stunning, check out the nearby Similan Islands)
Ao Sane beach is an idyllic spot in Phuket if you didn’t want to travel out but still wanted a snorkel with the colorful fishes of the sea on a quiet beach.
4. Promthep Cape Viewpoint @ Nai Harn
You might be thinking ‘great, one of the most widely known, photographed places in Phuket, it will most definitely be jam packed on Valentines day’. Well you’re right but I bet you didn’t know about the spot that tourists rarely visit, the almost secret side of Promthep Cape (Shown in second photo). How do you get there?
See the road in the lower right hand corner? The one that kinda looks like the letter W. That is the way to it. Park at temple & walk down stairs to the ocean.
5) Sunset at Big Bhudda @ Chalong
This must-see location offers people a 360 degree view of Phuket and all of its beautiful beaches. Enjoy a peaceful walk to the top hand in hand with that special someone. When you get there, you’ll thank us.
6. Saphan Hin at night @ Phuket Town
After the sun goes down, this public park filled with families and friends picnicking on the lawn creates an awesome atmosphere. With the beach nearby and plenty of delicious food stalls you’ll get a glimpse into the local Thai life. Something hard to find on Phuket!
7. Romantic Talang Road at night @ Phuket Town
Swarming with quirky coffee shops and buildings with architecture rich in colonial history, you will find not only the perfect place to host a photoshoot but a wonderful setting for your valentines date. Located in the heart of Phuket Town, you can find some wonderful places to eat away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist spots.
As Valentines falls on a Sunday too, you can visit the Thalang Road walking street open from 4 till 10 pm. The market is packed with delicious Thai treats, live music and handcrafted goodies.
8. Rung Hill
Start walking by day and by 6pm you can watch the sun set above the whole of Phuket with the woman you love. What a romantic way to spend a Sunday! Not to mention there is a restaurant nearby called Tunk Ka Restaurant so you can wine and dine overlooking the stunning scenery.
9. Sunset on Sarasin Bridge
If you want to take a stroll down the ‘Bridge of Love’ (we didn’t just name it that, its famously known in Phuket) you will be able to create your own love story. Walk down the beautiful bridge or drive at sunset to capture the romance. Make sure you get out and take a look at the top of it though!
10. A couple spa
What better way to finish off your Valentines day and this article then on a relaxing note; at the spa. Not just any spa though. One that’s been designed for couples to spend each serene, peaceful and indulgent moment together. This is an idea we just know your special person is gonna love!
